The Study of M.Sc. Students Motivation to Choose Aquaculture Field of Study in Scope of Career and Personal in Islamic Azad Universities of Tehran

Abstract

This study was conducted to survey the M.Sc. students’ motivation for choosing the aquaculture as field of study in scope of personal and career in Islamic Azad universities of Tehran during 2012–2013. The data collection tool was a two-part questionnaire includes personal information and options related to motivational factors to choose the mentioned field. To determine the validation of questionnaire and its stability, were used content validity and Test–Retest methods, respectively (r=0/9). Research community was included of 56 M.Sc. students of aquaculture major in Islamic Azad University of two different branches, science and research and North, in Tehran. The data was analyzed using SPSS (version 20). Results showed that the most effective factors to create motivation to choose aquaculture major included: being interested in work with aquatic animals in scope of personal fields and hope to work independently, exiting experiences and earn high income in scope of career. In addition, cope with unemployment and just being accepted in university were the least important factors for choosing aquaculture field.
