Intensive aquaculture and commercialization production are believed to be needed for improving fish health status and probiotics and prebiotics are candidates to achieve this goal. The aim of this study was to evaluate the single and combined effects of dietary probiotic with prebiotic on intestine histology and blood biochemical parameters of Sobaity fingerling (Sparidentex hasta). For this purpose, a total of 180 Sobaity fingerlings were prepared with an average weight of 35.14±0.8g from the Mariculture Research Station of South Iranian Aquaculture Research Center. This study was carried out in a completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications (15 fish per each replication) in fiberglass tanks with 300 liters volume. Fish were fed with feed containing without supplementation (control group), probiotic 10⁶ CFU/g feed (treatment 1), 0.5 and 1 percent prebiotic 10⁶ CFU/g feed (treatment 2 and 3) at satiation for a period of 8 weeks. At the end of the experiment, the intestine and blood samples were collected. The results showed that combination of dietary probiotic with prebiotic did not change intestine histology of Sobaity fish (P>0.05). At the end of the experiment, the dietary prebiotic and probiotic also did not change blood biochemical parameters (glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, HDL, LDL and VLDL) (P>0.05). This study showed that combination of probiotic with prebiotic at the used amounts had no significant effects on intestine histology and blood biochemical parameters of Sobaity fish. However, single supplementation of probiotic causes the elevation of villi length.
